The next stop on the ADRL tour this past weekend took us to Radford, VA at the Shelor Motor Mile Dragway.  Weather again was a big player all weekend with rain and thunder storms off and on.  The event was just completed Sunday afternoon when the rain closed the show, right after our last run with the Interceptor.
The weekend started off great with a record crowd Friday evening, but just like the racers, the fans were hoping mother nature would let the sun shine through.  Although the on and off again rains slowed the show there was some great racing action, along with a custom car show and entertainment all weekend.  I can't forget the big fireworks show lighting up the sky.  Happy 4th.
The ADRL and Shelor Motor Mile crew worked hard at keeping the track dry and the show moving along between rains.  All that hard work paid off as another ADRL National event is in the books.
Maria and I enjoyed meeting many new friends that stopped by to chat and get autographs and I have to tip my hat to all the fans that came out all three days to see the show dispite the rain.  You all are true racing fans.
We would like to express a special thanks to ADRL starter, Eddie Cranford for all his help on the starting line all weekend.  He was a big help to Maria and I as we were short a crew person, he did a great job in helping us bring the Interceptor to life and adding a little fire to the ADRL show.  Hope you all enjoyed it.

The Night of Thrills at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire this past weekend brought out some of the best exhibition vehicle from across the land.  The very large crowd was treated to four jet dragsters, three jet funny cars, four wheelstanders and the three jet engine truck, Shock Wave.
Along with the wheelstanders and jet cars was a full field of Pro Comp, Pro Modifieds and bracket cars.  The pits were full as nearly was the grandstands.  The wheelstanders started off the show of exhibition vehicles with some great side-by-side rear wheel only passes.  Then the jet funny cars were up.  The Interceptor was paired up against Ken Hall in Al Hanna's Top Secert car.  Rich Hanna was up next with his First Strike car.  Then the jet dragster, trains of KC Jones and driver Paul Kelly followed by the jet dragsters, Queen of Diamonds and Beast from the East.   Kent Shockley closed the round by blasting down track in his Kenworth truck.
We all returned for a second round later in the evening, it was a very exciting show. Our second run of the evening was next to Paul Kelly and the Chattanooga Choo-Choo jet dragster.  A thanks goes out to our host Joe Lombardo and  the New England Dragway staff.
Maria and I had a great time getting up to New England, we stopped in Hershey, PA. at the Chocolate World and learned how chocolate is made, a lot of fun.  We also, but, not really planned had a short visit to New York City, opps wrong turn.  We saw the Statue of Liberty and worked on getting out of line for the Holland tunnel.  We got turned around and headed in the right direction.  Not really a good idea to be in New York with a 70 foot tow rig, but we can say we've done that.
We look forward to returning to New England next month for the Jet Cars Under the Stars.  Hope to see you there.

The Interceptor pit was a busy place.
The Motor Mile became standing room only.
