Just completed our event "Nitro Night", at the New Amarillo Dragway in Amarillo, TX.  It was a cool and windy Saturday evening but that didn't keep the fans away.  This was an exciting event as the line up included Terry Haddock's nitro funny cars, the Southwest Superchargers and the Interceptor on top of a pit full of bracket cars.  Terry Haddock and driver of his second funny car Donny D were both a pleasure to meet and talk with.  The track was a little tricky for the fuel cars, but the Interceptor performed very well before the packed grandstands and fence line along both sides of the track.
We would like to thank Norm and Kat Henson, owners of Amarillo Dragway for hosting us last weekend, they along with their staff were wonderful and also a pleasure to meet.  But we cannot forget our new fans, we were overwhelemed by the many fans that stopped by, bought t-shirts and I was more than happy to talk with and sign autographs throughtout the evening, thanks.
Maria and I had a few days so we did a little site seeing while we were in Amarillo.  We learned about the Palo Duro Canyon nearby, so we went on a fun filled day of exploring and hiking through the canyon.  We really enjoyed our visit and highly recommend visting the canyon if you are in the area, some beautiful scenery, but watch for snakes, I really don't like snakes.
On to our next event in Abilene, TX at Abilene Dragway for their Napa Auto Parts "Night of Fire" in two weeks.  We'll be heading down to the area and do a little motorhome maintenance and maybe do a little more site seeing around the Abilene area.  Wonder what will find there? Life is an adventure.

Napa Auto Parts "Night of Fire" at Abilene Dragway in Abilene, TX. was a night full of fire.  Maria and I pulled into the track a little early as we came from Amarillo and we were met by track owner Dean Kennedy and his son-in-law Shawn.  I can't say how welcome they made us feel, "Great people" as is everyone with Abilene Dragway.  Maria and I sat through some bad stroms on Thursday and Thursday night before the event, there was damage near-by, from a Tornado and high winds, nothing real bad at the track, thank God.
The updates and improvements made to Abilene Dragway are top notch and the track was great.  The fans kept rolling in and packed the house by race time and they got to see some exciting non-stop racing action.
The night started out with a full field of Texas Pro Stocks, then two fuel altereds.  Next up Tony Caprio and Donny Hueta in their wheelstanding trucks followed by the jet cars.  The Interceptor faced off with Curt Eierdam's Invader jet dragster and we put on a show for the fans as did all the exhibition cars.  It was fun getting together with the Eierdam's, we had first met them last year.  One enjoyable thing about this business is getting together with friends across the country as we go from track to track.  Talking about friends, we made so many new friends at this events, I sure hope it won't be to long before we can return and see everyone again.
We had the pleasure of meeting Abilene Police Officer Coby Wright, his wife and family.  Coby had his Beat the Heat, Abilene Police, Camaro race car on display all weekend along side of the Interceptor in the pits.  We caught up on police talk and a couple days later, before heading to our next event we took in his sons (A very good pitcher) baseball game at a local ball park , then we all went out to dinner that night, good food, good company.  Maria and I had a great time.  Thanks Coby and family.
This was an all around fun event to be part of.  The track owners, staff and sponsors were wonderful, the fans were awsome, the racers put on a great show and everyone was safe at the end of the night.  As you can see from the pictures below it was a Night full of Fire.

The US Outlaw Nationals near Dallas in Ennis, TX at the Texas Motorplex had some of the best racers in the country going head to head all weekend.  The countries best outlaw 10.5 cars, Pro Mods, Pro Stocks and three outlaw street classes filled the pits and offered some great heads-up, non-stop racing action on the track.  Friday night was a test-n-tune night with a shoot-out race.  Maria and I found a couple good seats in the stands and enjoyed the action. Saturday was three rounds of qualifying for all the classes followed by a wheelstanding blast down the track by Tony Caprio and his Texas Bandit S-10 pick-up truck.  I followed Tony with the Interceptor leaving the starting line area covered in smoke as I shot down the quarter-mile to close the show at the end of the evening.  I talked to some fans later in the evening that said they were in the tower and smoke was coming through the window seals.  Cool!  They told me it was the first time seeing a jet car and that it was the most incredible thing they had even seen.  Always nice to make new fans and to hear their excitement after seeing us run.
We would like to thank Shannon Morgan for hosting us and putting together this event along with her partners and staff.  This is one annual event that is sure to grow and become bigger and bigger each year.
Sunday eliminations had some of the
closest races I had ever seen. Most were
won right at the starting line as a hole-
shot start meant a win.   Great event!
A special thanks, to the Motorplex staff
as they are always good to see again.
We feel so blessed each day to make
such good friends..
